Dear leaders and distinguished guests, good morning everyone!

I am very happy to be able to participate in today’s event.

In just two years since the commercial launch of 5G, we have seen that the development momentum of 5G commercialization has exceeded expectations. In China, 5G commercial development has achieved outstanding results, and the network and user scale are leading in the world. According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as of November this year, China has built more than 1.15 million 5G base stations, and 5G terminal users have reached 450 million. In July this year, 10 departments including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the “5G Application “Sailing” Action Plan (2021-2023)”, which established China’s 5G development goals for the next three years, focusing on promoting 5G applications in 15 industries including the Industrial Internet. Promoting the large-scale development of 5G industry applications has become an important measure to promote high-quality economic development, empower the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry, and enhance the resilience of the industrial chain and supply chain.

5G has fiber-like transmission rates, ultra-low latency, and ultra-large capacity, enabling everything to be continuously connected to the cloud. The combination of 5G and AI will not only transform the user experience, but will also promote the digital transformation of almost all industries. According to the forecast of the market research company IHS, by 2035, 5G will create 13.1 trillion U.S. dollars in economic output globally and will create more than 20 million jobs, including millions of jobs in China.

5G and AI play an important role in the whole process of healthcare. During the epidemic, telemedicine has become part of the new normal, and this change may evolve into a long-term phenomenon. It is estimated that by 2030, half of the medical services in the United States will be completed through the cloud, and similar trends are expected to occur in China and other countries and regions around the world. These changes will help the medical and health industry expand the scope of services, reduce costs and improve effectiveness, benefiting people of all income levels.

5G and AI are supporting new functions in the automotive industry, making the driving experience safer and more enjoyable. Based on 5G cellular car networking, cars will be able to communicate directly with other vehicles, pedestrians and infrastructure, and exchange information on roads and traffic conditions in real time. They can also share driving intent, trajectory, and location information to support more predictable collaborative autonomous driving, saving time and energy, reducing traffic accidents, and reducing mortality. The combination of 5G cellular car networking and AI will support higher levels of autonomous driving, greatly improving safety and convenience. 5G and AI will also revolutionize the in-car experience, provide more personalized cockpit configurations and content for drivers and passengers, and bring digital lifestyles into the in-car space.

5G and AI will also have an important impact on industrial use cases and the manufacturing industry. In the future, factories will be highly intelligent, with intensive deployment of sensors, industrial robots and head-mounted Display equipment in the factory area, and data transmission to the cloud through an optimized, scalable and highly reliable 5G enterprise private network. Manufacturing equipment will use smart cameras to monitor production and dynamically adjust equipment to correct errors in real time. 5G millimeter wave technology is essential to unleash the full potential of 5G. Millimeter wave technology will help 5G further expand to fixed wireless access, 5G enterprise private networks, and industrial Internet. The advantages of 5G millimeter wave applied to the industrial Internet include: First, the ultra-large bandwidth, the bandwidth advantage of the millimeter wave frequency band can meet the needs of large-scale data transmission; second, the ultra-low latency, 5G millimeter wave is 5G air interface delay less than 1 millisecond It can meet the extremely low latency requirements of industrial-grade applications; third, reliable connection, 5G millimeter wave can achieve ultra-reliable low-latency communication capabilities, while meeting the high reliability requirements of the industrial Internet up to 99.9999%, Maintain millisecond-level delay; fourth, high-precision positioning, 5G millimeter wave can achieve centimeter-level real-time positioning, so as to meet the diverse needs of the industrial Internet.

In China, Qualcomm maintains close cooperation with the Chinese terminal ecosystem. At the 2020 China International Trade in Services Fair held in September last year, the “5G Pilot Program” was awarded the “Service Demonstration Case Science and Technology Innovation Award” by the organizer, which is recognition and encouragement for Qualcomm’s cooperation with Chinese partners.

In July last year, in order to accelerate the construction and development of the IoT industry ecosystem and enable Chinese manufacturers to better grasp the opportunities in the domestic and foreign markets, Qualcomm and more than 20 leading companies jointly initiated the “5G IoT Innovation Plan.” Many module manufacturers, including MAG, Quectel, Fibocom, SIMCom, etc., have adopted Qualcomm technology to launch a series of 5G modules, which promotes 5G in the Internet of Vehicles, Industrial Internet of Things, Smart Agriculture and other fields Global applications.

In September of this year, the “5G Internet of Things Innovation Plan” won the 2021 China International Trade in Services “Service Demonstration Case Technology Innovation Award”. With the deepening of cooperation with Chinese industrial partners in the 5G field, we have once again won this honor.

Here I will introduce a case where 5G supports application innovation in the medical industry. In October of this year, Wuxi Municipal Health Commission, Wuxi Emergency Center, Qualcomm, and Wuxi Mobile formally reached a four-party strategic cooperation to jointly promote the “5G+Smart First Aid” project. In the new type of emergency vehicle, the 5G smart network engine equipped with Qualcomm’s X55 chip can transmit patient vital signs and other data through the 5G emergency network to the Wuxi Municipal Health Commission data center, so that the hospital can formulate a rescue plan in advance. Ambulance vehicles can also send priority control instructions on the road to provide patients with a seamless green channel for medical treatment in the pre-hospital hospital. The “5G+Smart First Aid” project has effectively shortened the treatment time for patients with chest pain and other patients, and improved service capabilities. In the 4th “Blooming Cup” 5G Application Contest held by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, this project won the first prize in the Jiangsu Division and became a new model of “5G + Smart Medical” by all parties.

We firmly believe that 5G-enabled smart connected cars are the next blue ocean for mobile smart terminals and are expected to become one of the largest application scenarios in the Internet of Things. 5G technology will play an enabling role in helping China’s auto industry to achieve transformation, upgrading and green development. Currently in the automotive field, Qualcomm’s core business includes: in-vehicle networking and cellular car networking, digital cockpits, advanced driver assistance systems and autonomous driving, and cloud-side terminal management. At present, more than 150 million cars worldwide have adopted Qualcomm’s technology. Many well-known car brands are displayed here, including international brands, and leading Chinese brands such as Great Wall, BYD, Weilai, Xiaopeng and Ideal. Among the world’s 25 leading automakers, 23 have adopted the Snapdragon automotive digital cockpit platform; the current total value of orders for Qualcomm’s automotive solutions has reached approximately US$10 billion; in the past 18 months, only in China, Qualcomm Has supported Chinese automakers to launch more than 20 models.
