According to Tencent’s “Deep Web” report, first-tier mobile phone manufacturers OPPO and vivo are about to release self-developed ISP chips. Previously, Xiaomi had launched the self-developed Surging C1 ISP (image signal processor) chip.
According to the report, an OPPO insider said that OPPO’s self-developed ISP chip will first be installed on the Find X4 series of mobile phones that will be launched early next year. At present, the OPPO self-developed chip project team has about a thousand people.
As for vivo, a vivo insider said that vivo had secretly formed a self-developed chip team two years ago, called the “Yueying” project. At present, the team has about 500 or 600 people. It will be launched on the X70 series mobile phones that will be launched in the second half of this year.
The report also said that in addition to ISP chips, OPPO and vivo are also simultaneously advancing their self-developed SOC plans, which may replace some Qualcomm and MediaTek chips in the future.
The reporter learned that ISP, the abbreviation of “Image Signal Processor” (image signal processor), is a unit used to process the output signal of the front-end image sensor. All the ISP has to do is increase the vision level of the “digital eye” to the level of the “human eye”, so that the human eye sees the digital image as closely as possible to the human eye seeing the real scene.
